Heating the future: NIBE’s transformational year of innovation and growth

As 2024 draws to a close, NIBE celebrates a landmark year of evolution, growth, and recognition, aligning with a record-breaking year for heat pump sales, according to MCS figures. This year, the UK heat pump market surged by over 50%, and NIBE has been at the forefront, driving innovation and excellence.

Since the start of 2024, Europe’s leading heat pump manufacturer has expanded its UK team considerably, with a dozen new employees reinforcing key parts of the business. The company has won several significant industry awards, broadened routes to market, expanded free product training for installers and launched a new campaign to support homeowners in their transition to low carbon heating.

MD, Paul Smith, who joined NIBE at the end of 2023, looks back over the last 12 months:

“2024 has been a year of distinction for NIBE. The company’s innovative heat pump solutions have been celebrated with several major industry awards, reinforcing its status as a market leader. Key recognitions include:

“A big change for NIBE this year has been the broadening of our routes to market. Historically, customers could only buy NIBE heat pumps direct from us, but to reflect the shifting landscape, we have started working with some key merchants such as City Plumbing, with more in the pipeline, giving a greater number of options for installers to access to our product range. These collaborations give installers wider access to our products while maintaining the high standards that NIBE is known for. To ensure quality installations, we’ve extended our free product training to all qualified heat pump engineers, beyond just those certified through NIBE Pro Akademi.

“2024 has also seen the launch of our largest ever homeowner campaign in the UK, ‘Take the Step’ (#takethestep). This initiative educates homeowners on the benefits of heat pumps, dispels myths, and guides them toward a low-carbon heating future. The campaign reflects NIBE’s mission to make sustainable heating accessible and desirable for all. Watch this space for some exciting developments next year.

“2025 marks the next phase in NIBE’s ambitious strategy for advancing sustainable heating solutions. The company will unveil a groundbreaking Exhaust Air Heat Pump (EAHP) with integrated cooling capabilities, designed to align with the Future Homes Standard and updated Building Regulations. This innovative product is set to provide year-round occupant comfort while helping housebuilders and homeowners meet stricter sustainability benchmarks.

“In addition, NIBE plans to further deepen its partnerships with merchants and expand its training programs, ensuring more professionals are equipped to deliver high-quality heat pump installations. A greater focus on R&D will drive enhancements across the product portfolio, keeping NIBE at the forefront of the market.”
