Question:

I have some doubts on the EICRs on bus shelters. How do we review the prospective fault current and external loop impedance and understand whether these are correct. Please can you explain this and also please can you offer any further advice on where we could find more detailed help.

Answer:

Verification of earth fault loop impedance and prospective fault currents depends on many factors, including the type of test instrumentation used, selection of testing parameters, temperature of conductors and ambient conditions.  Fortunately the ECA explore this and more in detail in our recent webinar Verification of Earth Fault Loop Impedance as part of our Technical Tuesday series. Furthermore, we can also help with your question around understanding EICR reports with our completing electrical certification – Electrical Installation Condition Report video.
