Amendment 4 to BS 7671: EAL qualifications update

January 20, 2026

EAL qualifications and assessments are being reviewed to align with Amendment 4 (2026) to BS 7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations, which will be published on 15 April 2026.

This change impacts a range of qualifications as BS 7671 is assessed across several qualifications.

How does this impact EAL’s provision?
EAL will launch a replacement Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 qualification to A4.

It plans for this to be available for registrations in April 2026. Learners can be assessed as soon as they are ready.

The current qualification will close for registration on 31 July 2026 and close for certifications on 31 December 2026. The onscreen exam will be available until 15 October 2026.

How will other qualifications be impacted?
For qualifications which incorporate the full onscreen exam assessing BS 7671 embedded in its rule of combination as a standalone unit.

From 16 April 2026 until 15 October 2026, learners will be able to sit onscreen exams to Amendment 3 or 4. From 16 October 2026, only the Amendment 4 onscreen exam versions will be available.
