March 11, 2025

As reported by Construction Enquirer, a £300m redevelopment of a former Government office in London lifted Mace to pole position in the February league table for work won, putting them as ninth over a twelve month rolling league.

The 1 Victoria Street project for developer Mitsubishi Estate involves retaining the basement of the former Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy building with a full above ground rebuild.

According to data made available by Barbour ABI, the value of projects secured by the leading 50 contractors slipped 7% to £4.26bn in February from £4.56bn.

Among the other big wins in February were Skanska, winning the £200m A47 Thickthorn Junction upgrade in Norfolk.

Wates also won big projects including a near £100m project for Surrey police and a £70m package of work at HMP Wayland men’s prison, Norfolk.
