Launch of new Level 3 technical qualifications from EAL

September 8, 2025

EAL is proud to announce the launch of its new funded Level 3 technical qualifications available for adult learners, designed to meet the evolving demands of the electrical and plumbing industries.

Developed in close collaboration with industry experts and education providers, these qualifications have been approved by Skills England and attract DfE funding.

The two Technical Occupational Entry qualifications (Electrical/Plumbing) align with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) in the relevant apprenticeship standard. They facilitate progression into the occupation for adult learners, so they can progress with further learning and training into employment and completion of the apprenticeship standard. It’s ideal for those seeking a route into the industry, and each can be used to reduce duration of the apprenticeship or NVQ routes.

Key features include:

  • Centre-based practical training
  • Theory aligned with current job roles and industry standards
  • Facilitate progression into apprenticeships and industry recognised routes
  • Funded for centres with relevant DfE contract

Upon completion, learners can progress into further training and with site experience complete an apprenticeship, or an associated NVQ.

Typical topics covered:

  • Health and safety
  • Planning and system design
  • Fault finding, testing, and commissioning
  • Simulated installation and maintenance tasks

These new diplomas reflect EAL’s ongoing commitment to accessible, high-quality pathways into skilled employment, helping learners build careers and contribute effectively to the industry.

In addition, the new EAL Level 3 Technical Specialist in the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment (Award), is a funded version of the existing Award.
