IDEAL Electrical debuts 6mm2 lever connectors

IDEAL Electrical is expanding its European lever connector portfolio with the launch of a new 6mm² lever connector. A new solution for data centre construction, electrical vehicle (EV) infrastructure and more, this lever connector delivers quick and secure connections for 0.5mm² to 6.0mm² cable.

Electricians are in high demand across Europe, particularly as data centre construction projects and EV installations continue to expand. As Europe faces a shortage of trained electricians, connector solutions that prioritise speed, reliability and ease of inspection can help contractors complete large-scale electrical installations more efficiently and with greater confidence.

The new 6mm² lever connector has been engineered with the electrician in mind. Key advantages that set this connector apart include:

Quick and comfortable installations: The lever mechanism features an optimised spring that requires less force to open than many competitive products, saving time on installations and reducing installer fatigue. The ridged sides are also designed to enhance user grip.
Confirm installation: An audible ‘click’ confirms that the lever is fully closed and the connection is secure, while a continuity check port enables the installer to easily confirm connection security. Additionally, installers and inspectors can visually confirm proper conductor insertion using the clear window in the translucent housing. For construction projects like data centres that undergo rigorous inspections, these features provide confidence in each connection.
Easier to install and reuse: The lever connector is reusable, permitting installers to easily remove the connector and correct any accidental splicing errors. The built-in strip length guide also shows the correct amount of insulation to remove from the conductor.
Size options and power capability: The 6mm² lever connector is available in two-port, three-port and five-port sizes and supports up to 41A and 450V with an ambient temperature of up to 85°C.

The new 6mm² lever connector joins the existing 4.0mm² lever connector already in use across Europe. Supporting cables from 0.14mm²-4.0mm², this connector is a smaller option perfect for compact usage in residential, commercial and industrial installations.
